Original oil painting of Mount Whitney in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. The vantage point is from the Alabama Hills, site of many western movies. Mount Whitney is the tallest peak in the lower 48 states at 14,497 feet. The image was reproduced in Steve Simon's coffee-table book entitled "California: Through an Artist's Eye."
