TropicalPurchase Original Oil Paintings and Archival Quality Canvas Giclée Prints Tropical art paintings and tropical prints by artist Steve Simon, featuring scenes from Oahu, Maui, Hawaii, the Caribbean, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and tropical cocktails.
Tropical art has long been a favorite decorative motif for those looking to add a touch of relaxation and tranquility to their home ambience. In a world replete with tight schedules and concerns of every sort, nothing quite offers the anecdote to modern stress as that of the image of a peaceful tropical setting. Tropical artwork at its best, offers us an escape or, at least, a portal through which to travel to. Such art has the capacity to dissolve our senseless anxieties. It has been said, “To worry is to pay interest on a debt you may never owe.” If the tropical paintings in this collection could speak, that is exactly what they would be preaching. We all know to worry excessively is useless but sometimes it helps to be reminded and this is exactly what this collection sets out to humbly express. This collection includes oil paintings and giclee prints of scenes from travels to the Hawaiian Islands, the Caribbean, and to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. In addition to these specific destinations, a series of tropical cocktails is included. Nothing quite communicates the essence of the tropics like Hawaii. Hawaii is the most remote island archipelago, that is the furthest removed from a continent, on the planet. Each of the Hawaiian Islands has its own unique history and spirit but each is quintessentially part of the whole essence of Aloha. Aloha is more than a catchy greeting that has perhaps been overused and misused. It has profound meaning to native Hawaiians. According to Curby Rule in his article “The Deeper Meaning of Aloha” the children were taught: Aloha is being a part of all, and all being a part of me. When there is pain - it is my pain. When there is joy - it is also mine. I respect all that is as part of the Creator and part of me. I will not willfully harm anyone or anything. When food is needed I will take only my need and explain why it is being taken. The earth, the sky, the sea are mine to care for, to cherish and to protect. This is Hawaiian - this is Aloha! And so it is that the true essence of Aloha, and perhaps by extension, all things of the Hawaiian art motif should at some level and to some degree resonate with this beautiful sentiment. It is thusly Simon’s intent with this collection to go beyond merely producing aesthetically pleasing tropical wall art. Through his paintings, and in many cases accompanying poems, he wishes to ignite, even if only, an inkling of Aloha. A couple of the scenes included in this tropical art collection also feature Caribbean destinations. These scenes were painted from inspirations gleaned from a Caribbean cruise Simon and his then future wife enjoyed. A number of entries in this tropical art collection also include paintings of Cabo San Lucas. The Cabo San Lucas paintings were painted by Simon from photographs he took during a vacation in which he and his wife celebrated their first anniversary in 2003. In addition to the destination-specific art featured in this collection a number paintings depicting tropical cocktails have also been included. These were produced as a series by the artist after feeling inspired by, of all things, a lunch that included chips, salsa, and cerveza in Cabo San Lucas--testimony to the fact that inspiration can strike anywhere at anytime.
